mini life update!!

 hey everyone!!

I just wanted to share a quick life update, I've had a busy few weeks recently between a beach trip, finishing up some online classes, lots and lots of work, and now preparation for the fall semester to start!! I am hoping once the school-year routine kicks in I can make time for a weekly post on here, but just in case I disappear occasionally do not fear!! I will be back :)

now that that's out of the way, here's a few thoughts taken from my brain and given to yours:

currently listening to: stop the wedding - ashe !!! this song will not leave my brain, it is so catchy

recently watched: spiderman brand new day (really good), obsession, heartstopper forever, and hadestown!!! I am working on posting a full hadestown review because I absolutely loved it, and I have a lot of thoughts!

p.s. movie theaters have been on a generational run this summer, am I right?? so. many. good. movies.

currently watching: survivor season 8, cw nancy drew - I am rewatching this with my roommate (she's never seen Nancy drew before) and its genuinely one of my favorite shows!! highly recommend if you like mystery and the supernatural :)

currently reading: beartown book 2 - almost done!! but it got really sad so I had to put it down 🫠

thanks for catching up with me!! what are y'all up to? also, would anyone be interested in a college mini-post? I'm entering my senior year and am having a lot of feels ...

reality tv... yay or nay?

I've never really been an avid reality tv watcher, but since I started college I've been diving back into early 2000s tv. I've always loved dramas like the OC, One Tree Hill, Pretty Little Liars, Supernatural, etc.

early 2k reality tv is so full of sexism, homophobia, ed culture, etc that just makes it so hard to consume. I tried my hand at a season of early UK love island, and a few seasons of the original Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders "Making the Team" but neither shows really scratched the itch I was feeling (well, I absolutely binged DC when I was packing for college... and then I never watched it again!)

then one day, Survivor walked into my brain and built itself a room.

I had the brilliant idea of starting Survivor from SEASON 1!! yeah, I know... we are on season 52 I think?? needless to say, I binged multiple seasons over a few months and then guess what? I hit a season that was ranked so low, I got burnt out and completely stopped watching the show last summer...

well, recently I tried again at the reality tv/gameshow genre with the UK gameshow Taskmaster. I am watching my second season of it and I am LOVING it!! The seasons are much shorter than your typical reality tv seasons, and I have absolutely loved the casts for both seasons I've seen (seasons 19 & 21). I fully recommend them if you are looking for a laugh!! (plus, s19 has Matthew Bayton and he's so sexy ngl I love him)

Taskmaster has reignited my reality tv itch, and so I have just started a fresh survivor season. I think it's a good genre to watch when you just want to turn your brain off, especially when I am not busy with school!

my question to you is do you like reality tv?  what are your favorite reality shows? also, if there are any survivor fans out there lmk if you want me to drop my thoughts/rankings on the early seasons :)

p.s. I'm also playing around with what sorta content I wanna blog about, because I could yap for pages and pages on my favorite shows and media, but until I start getting some interactions (comments, etc) about what y'all care about I'm so unmotivated 😖

my favorite overnight oats recipe!

 hi everyone!

with the start of fall semester looming for many of us, I wanted to share my tried and true overnight oats recipe! last fall, I unfortunately had many 8 & 9am college lectures & studios that lasted for 3 or 4 hours - and no motivation that early in the morning to do much of anything, let alone cook a filling breakfast or pack food for class. as someone who would just grab a granola bar in the morning all throughout middle and high school, I spent a little more time and effort into my self care when I started college. for me, this meant breakfast!!

enter: overnight oats

in the past, I could never get into oats (it was a texture thing) but I was determined to find a recipe I liked. thus, after many experiments and recipe combos, I finally found my holy grail- tried and true by various friends of mine- so now I will share this in hopes it makes your early mornings just a little easier :)

✧˖° ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ⋆.˚⟡˖° ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ⋆.˚✧

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of old fashioned oats

1 tablespoon of chia seeds

1/2 of a mashed banana

1/4 cup of vanilla greek yogurt

a splash of vanilla

a drop of sweetener (typically honey or maple syrup)

cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice

1/2 cup of milk

optional: scoop of protein powder

Steps:

super easy! just combine all ingredients (except the milk) into the container of your choice. I typically use mason jars because they are leakproof and super convenient for me to take to class! now, you are going to want to add your milk individually, immediately mixing completely to prevent any chia seeds from clumping up! then you just store your sealed oats in the fridge overnight, and voila!! they last up to 5 days refrigerated, and you can add any mix-ins or toppings you want in the morning :)

✧˖° ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ⋆.˚⟡˖° ⊹ ࣪ ˖ ⋆.˚✧

now, lets talk about mix-ins. i was mixing nutella and strawberries in for a while, but I ended up swapping the Nutella for chocolate chips because I just love the crunch! plus, they are a little bit easier for me to toss in when I am running out the door. I would recommend any type of fruit (think berries, peaches, etc) and something to give it a little extra crunch or flavor (chocolate chips, nutella, jam, peanut butter, granola, etc)

BEWARE!! this recipe is so good I have eaten it TOO much!!! be sure to try new mix-ins, spices, flavors, and let me know your favorite early morning recipes!! I might make this a mini-series, so please leave some comments to keep me from yapping into the void!!
